High Street Plaza Project

High St Plaza redevelopment was a very significant project. Our director, Andy Burke, worked on the original shopping centre development thirty-five years ago. This recent project was a combined effort for the Burke Industries divisions. Asbestos identification and removal, demolition, earthmoving, plumbing and stormwater re-direction were all conducted throughout this project.

With regard to the asbestos removal, the company worked directly with the customer to identify all areas of asbestos as a current asbestos register did not exist. We also came across buried asbestos floor tiles from previous buildings that had to be dealt with during demolition.

In the demolition of the Plaza, over 85% of all material was recycled off-site. Approximately 8 000 tonnes of concrete was delivered back to the site for various applications. This concrete was recycled at our own in-house concrete recycling facility.

Our earthmoving division undertook all detailed works, specific civil works, and machine hire for most of the other subcontractors on site.

The plumbing division undertook all of the underground and above-ground works concerning the plumbing to the new Plaza. Our very experienced foreman in the plumbing division also worked closely with engineers and hydraulic consultants during the project to ensure the plumbing for the new plaza went smoothly.

Our company is very proud to have been able to conduct a project of this size and to have it completed on time and on budget for a customer we have been working with for over twenty-five years.
